On a Tuesday night in May, BIZZY brought heart and spirit to the Metro in Chicago to get the sold out crowd warmed up, and within moments had the crowd in the palm of her hand. BIZZY’s unique way of dancing through heartbreak resonates so easily with the crowd who had plenty of love to give while waiting to finish the night with Rachel Chinouriri. The venue was already packed by the time BIZZY took the stage, opening up with 2023’s single “Spinach In My Teeth” followed immediately by her most recent single, “Tuesday.” BIZZY set the tone for the night of emotional vulnerability mixed with not giving a fuck. The whole evening felt like late night tea spilling sessions with the besties — weaving in and out through every feeling that comes with this messy experience of being human. The crowd was along for every second of the ride, perfectly delivering on call and response moments during “I Don’t Get Breakups.” She wound down the dynamic six song set with her most streamed song to date, “Anybody,” a song where she tells us all she could fall in love with anybody — ensuring that anybody that didn’t already love her before her set began would by the time she left the stage.
Alemeda took the stage next, kicking off strong with her viral hit, “Gonna Bleach My Eyebrows” — a tongue-in-cheek song about not being willing to wait for someone to see your worth and living for yourself. Like BIZZY, Alemeda took us all on a journey. Sometimes you just have to scream along about hating someone’s face, sometimes it’s about a first love song where things didn’t actually go quite right. The whole time you can’t help but relate and connect.
In the end, Rachel Chinouriri brought it all home with a set of intense emotional vulnerability mixed with joy and energy. It’s easy to see how she sold out one of the most iconic venues in Chicago after upgrading from a smaller one across town. She lets you see her through her performance, taking time to connect with the crowd at every possible moment. She had the world on a string and you could see clearly just how much it meant to her.
All said, it was a perfect evening of chatting with your best girlfriends about heartbreak, love, life, and all that comes with it. It was empowered women knowing the power of all of their emotions and sharing them freely. If you missed them on this tour, make sure you don’t in the future. These careers are bound to be as bright and bold as the women themselves are.
