5pm To Nowhere are no strangers to bringing imagery and music together to not only tell a story, but are masters of setting the mood and finding deeper connections through the medium.

The Milwaukee alt rock voyagers are quick on the turn around to drop their new single, “One More Chance”, after releasing their EP City Of Light, Act I back in February. Formed back in 2020 and already having an impressive run of singles dropping in 2021, 5pm are a group that have a clear vision in their art, and they are already on the rocket path of proving it to us listeners. City Of Light, Act I in itself, is a beautiful, almost melancholy album filled with poetic lyrics that, in the grand scheme, create a world within an EP that leaves you wondering, “What’s next?”

“One More Chance” is the single that rivals the previous, already promising to have heads bobbing in the first thirty seconds in order to ensure the whole body will be moving and rocking out by the end of the track. Light guitars carry us into the retro like verses, swooning us into an almost fleeting feeling of nostalgia. Despite the airy rock persona, the lyrics still hit home on the feelings of escapism and being a topic of concern during the smooth twang of the chorus, “Everyone else is concerned for my health, but all that I need is one more chance.” Each verse is filled with dreamy riffs, tugging you back to relisten and discover a new element that heightens the song’s encapsulating moods, backed by an impressive harmonization of vocals throughout the entire song, never letting up or slacking in the performance.

“One More Chance” can be seen as a continuation of the story we left off from City Of Light, Act I, finding ourselves feeling trapped despite being in a place called home— hoping that leaving can alleviate the feeling of being a small fish in the big pond of what we came from. Being the first single from City Of Light, Act II, it’s easy to fall back into a familiar story and rekindle the feelings prior, yet find the music and imagery new and refreshing to pave the road ahead. 5pm To Nowhere are seemingly mastering the art of what others can easily miss— experimenting with new sounds and ideas and executing them without hesitation, while keeping the familiarity of their sound for fans who have been around the longest, and arguably, most excited to see where the group is headed.

Just getting started, the band already has well envisioned plans for not only their concept and sound, but performances and future shows, commenting, “We’re kind of constantly evolving and changing as a band, and kind of reinventing ourselves in a way of trying to push the edge of our image appears and our sound as a group. So a lot of what we’re focusing on for the next few months is the releases and the content surrounding that. In the background too, planning for the future both with the live stuff and the next project on the line.”

“All of us seem to be locking in, really digging the vibes, and that’s something you draw from the last time you play, like, “Remember the last one?” Haha.”

Give One More Chance a listen, and let us know how much you love it.
