Listen, I get it, it’s me again covering something about 3OH!3. If nothing else, it is my duty as our correspondent from the actual 303 area.

With a few teases on TikTok (here and here), we found out a few weeks ago that the Boulder duo was back with a fresh track. While not a brand collab a la Green Day and 7-Eleven, the clip of the track “Slushie” had me excited that these two were cooking up something. Hell, the HMM 3OH!3 contingent is definitely speculating on a potential album too, even though nothing is confirmed.

In any case, “Slushie” dropped on Friday, July 25 and while I wasn’t awake to catch it at midnight Eastern, it was queued up as soon as I got in my car for the drive to work. 7:00 am isn’t a super great time for blasting it en route, but the song is definitely built for it. With some signature 3OH!3 “WOO”’s sprinkled in the background, aggressive synth melodies, and many euphemistic lyrics — the track is quintessentially 3OH!3. The phrase “song of the summer” has been tossed around a lot this year, but for huge fans of “recession era pop,” a song you can just have fun and dance to, or just a couple of Colorado boys being their own brand of ridiculous… this might be your song of the (late) summer.
