Welcome to On the Rocks, where mixologists Ambrose and Madi give you fun new mocktails and cocktails to try every month!

This month’s drinks are inspired by the dynamic bubble-grunge duo Daisy Grenade. The two powerhouse musical theater majors from New York City contain multitudes, and we wanted to represent them with these contrasting beverages.
The mocktail is floral, calming, refreshing, and goes great with their more laidback songs like “MILF” and “Baby Blackout”. The cocktail is a (literally) fiery and bold pomegranate margarita, for when you want to get loud and rowdy to songs like “Riot” and “How To Hide A Body”. Why pomegranate? In Spanish, the word granada is the same word used for both grenade and pomegranate. And the word for daisy is margarita. Fun linguistic facts of the day for you!

Daisy

2 oz chamomile concentrate  (brew tea on stove, remove bag, simmer to reduce for 15 minutes)

1 whole passion fruit

1 oz honey

Juice from 1 freshly squeezed lemon

Cut passion fruit in half. Shake ingredients and pour into a wine glass with ice.

Top with soda water or San Pellegrino.

Garnish with lemon wheels and edible marigolds.

Grenade

2 oz Tequila blanco

1/2 oz liquor 43

1/2 cup of fresh pomegranate seeds muddled (or 1 oz of Pom juice)

Juice from 1 freshly squeezed lime

Shake and double strain into a martini glass.

Rim glass with red sugar.

Garnish with a half of the squeezed lime floating, filled with 151 rum, lit on fire. Grate nutmeg over top for the spark effect.
