Australian rock legends, Kisschasy, grace our airwaves in a return to form with new single “Lie To Me,” their first new release in a staggering 16 years.
“Lie To Me” touches on the importance of ignorance in personal relationships, especially in a world that implores everyone to uncover all the facts and truth about every little thing. The haunting yet comforting vocals from singer Darren Cordeux welcome us back immediately in the opening line, teamed warmly with the ever familiar chugging guitar style synonymous with the band, but it’s the layering of this song that makes it truly a gem. It is as vengeful as it is cathartic, with the reviving beat reinforced by drummer Karl Ammitzboll.
The lyrics remain consistent to the colourful nature of the band, calling back to the theme of ignorance which was deeply explored in their 2007 album Hymns For The Non Believer. The band themselves have described this track as “a little bit cheeky” and it does capture what is so special about this band and where they are headed now.
“Lie To Me” paints a beautiful picture of how opposites can attract, for better or for worse. Kisschasy reminds us that in order to get along and survive sometimes it’s better to “be in naive heaven than in educated hell.” Welcome back, Kisschasy. My goodness – have we missed you!
The band are on tour next month around Australia. Don’t lie to me and say you don’t wanna check them out!
