PRESIDENT is an emerging metal band that has been flying under the radar. They were recently added to the lineup for Download Fest in a prominent spot on the Dogtooth stage, however little information has surfaced about them — which adds to their mysterious aura. They have been teasing music since mid February, and on May 7th they teased, “an inaugural Presidential Address ‘In the Name of the Father’ will be aired on May 16th” on their Instagram for their new single. The band’s style evokes comparisons to Sleep Token, with members donning masks and keeping their identities hidden. Speculations state that there might be a possibility of a connection to Sleep Token, who are headlining Download Fest.

After months of teasing, they finally dropped their debut single and music video today for, “In the Name of the Father.” The song opens with a calm pace, hinting at a slow build — until the beat drops about 20 seconds in, unleashing a powerful intensity that sets the tone for the rest of the song. With a blend of screams, smooth melodic vocals, and an electric mix of instrumentals, this track is going to make you headbang! It strikes a unique balance between metal, alternative, and touches of autotune, creating a genre-bending sound that is heavy and emotionally rich. The lyrics explore themes of mental health struggles and the search for guidance amidst the chaos. The chorus, “I want to feel you near / It’s suffocating / Scare them, scare them, scare them” captures the desperate need for clarity and support.
