With their latest single “Left, Right, Goodnight!”, self-described dirtbag boyband Bears In Trees get in the ring against themselves. With an announcer calling them into the ring with impossible stats and plenty of cheek, this latest single makes you pay attention immediately. The song itself is a journey of healing from heartbreak. It’s a song to turn to when you’re sick of yourself for being sad and want to snap yourself out of it. It’s a song for when you’re sick of being selfish and ready to let it go, but sometimes you need a jolt to do that. From a band that doesn’t ever take itself too seriously, going on this emotional journey with them that’s part joking self-deprecation and part heartbreak is a perfect ride.

The range in Bears In Trees influences bleeds through every moment of this song — part surfer rock, part Brit pop, part ska, all brought together seamlessly with perfect piano melodies. It’s another perfect example of how they defy genre, taking bits and pieces of what inspires them and creating something uniquely them. A full decade into this project, this song feels like a launch point and if you haven’t been listening yet it’s about time you do. This song will be a focal point of all of my summer playlists, and I can’t wait to hear what’s next.
